Speaking With a Massachusetts Nursing Home Abuse Lawyer
When a Massachusetts resident faces immediate danger, 911 should be the first call. Massachusetts law M.G.L. c. 111, § 72G requires an immediate report to the Department of Public Health from listed caregivers and paid facility staff who suspect abuse, mistreatment, neglect, or misappropriation of property. Failing to report carries a fine of up to $1,000, and retaliation is banned. Massachusetts puts the general injury filing deadline at 3 years, under Mass. General A different, sometimes shorter deadline can apply to claims over nursing-home or medical care despite Laws ch. 260, §§ 1 et seq., so an attorney can confirm the dates for the family.
The provider information and health deficiencies files from CMS Care Compare supply the data.
